A clean hearing aid works better than a dirty one

If you have had a hearing aid for any length of time like I have then you realize how dirty they can get. Think about it, every time you get out of the shower you clean your ears with qtips but when was the last time you actually used hearing aid cleaners to scrub your hearing device? The odds are good that you have not ever cleaned your hearing aid. This is a shame as the dirtier the device gets the less effective it will work.

Another thing that will tend to happen to a dirty hearing aid is the performances will begin to deteriorate. There are lots of companies that will service you aid and clean it for you but that all costs money and if you are like many you have already spent enough on the device you do not want to spend more than you have to maintain it. The choice is up to you to spend a bunch on a person to do it or a small amount on hearing aid cleaners that you can use yourself.

Keeping a hearing aid looking, smelling and operating as it should is not very hard you just have to treat it like you would any other electronic device. Do not throw your hearing aid on the counter when it is not in, keep it clean and free from bodily fluids and debris with appropriate hearing aid cleaners, use it properly and only for its intended use and overall just treat it with respect. If you do these things your hearing aid will last for many years.
