The idea is simple. Sound will enter the hearing aid and be picked up by the microphone in the aid. Think of the sound waves as a baseball and the hearing aid microphone as the glove. The microphone grabs the sound waves out of the air and brings them into the circuit. The circuit changes the waves using software into smaller parts. Eventually the device turns the parts back into a whole signal which is sent to the ear canal and into the brain. There is a ton of science in how hearing aids work so we had to simplify it.

When you ask how do hearing aids work then you will have to be prepared for a very long and drawn out technical answer. If you want to be easy on yourself then you just have to accept that it works and it works well. Hearing aids are one of the modern marvels that many people cannot do without.
